Brief History of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church

On October 2, 1959 a meeting was called to organize a Baptist church.  Six members were present.  Reverend P.T. Tinsley, Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church; Reverend Bernis Warfield Sr., Pastor of Second Baptist Church; Reverend Bernis Warfield Jr., Associate Minister of Second Baptist Church, all of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Reverend L.L. Tubbs, Pastor of First Salem Baptist Church; Reverend Earl F. Young, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and Reverend Mose Collins all of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Seven letters were brought by interested members to organize the church.  They were presented by Sister Ida Mae Young, Sister Henrietta Sims, Sister Etoria Mitchell, Sister Katie Page, Sister Essie Page, Brother B.C. Page and Brother Quedellis Page.  There are two surviving of the seven who came that night.  Brother Quedellis and Deacon B.C. Page.  Deacon Page is the only one that remains a member of Macedonia.

After the church was organized, it was motioned and seconded that Reverend Earl F. Young would be the pastor.

December 29, 1976 Reverend William Young Jr., was appointed by Pastor Earl F. Young as Assistant Pastor of Macedonia, effective January 1, 1977.

Reverend Earl Young passed away on November 14, 1982.

May of 1983 Reverend William Young Jr., was installed as pastor.

August 20, 1997 Pastor William Young Jr., passed away.

February 13, 1998 the congregation voted and Reverend Keith N. McDonald Sr., of Grand Rapids, Michigan was elected.  He served until March 13, 1999.

May 12, 2000 a meeting was held to vote on a pastor.  Reverend Jeffrey Curtis Franklin of Camden, Arkansas was elected.  He served until March 26, 2004.

Reverend Royce Evans, an Associate Minister at the Messiah Missionary Baptist Church was interim pastor from August 12, 2004 until July 18, 2005.

A church meeting was held on February 16, 2006 and the church voted to select Reverend Timothy P. Troxler as pastor.

Reverend Timothy Troxler, Pastor
Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church

Pastor Timothy Troxler is a purpose-driven, mission minded man of God.  His love for God comes through with an energetic enthusiasm for teaching and preaching the Word of God.  And because of this, he has taught/lectured/preached in many cities and many states.

Pastor Troxler comes to the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Battle Creek, Michigan by way of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where the Rev. Dr. Addis Moore is Pastor.

Pastor Troxler has been a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church since June of 1988, which was then under the Leadership of the Rev. Dr. Otha Gilyard until 1993.  In January of 1995, The Rev. Dr. Addis Moore became Pastor.

Under Dr. Moore’s leadership, Pastor Troxler served in the following areas of Christian Education:

  • Sunday School Teacher
  • Bible Study Teacher
  • Vacation Bible School Teacher
  • Survival Kit Discipleship Teacher
  • Superintendent of Sunday School
  • Director of Christian Education

In April of 1995, Pastor Troxler was licensed to preach the Gospel by his Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Addis Moore.  In April of 1996, Pastor Troxler was hired full-time at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as Youth Minister.

In November of 1997, Pastor Troxler was ordained by his Pastor, and in 2002, he became the Administrative Assistant to the Pastor.

In March of 2006, Pastor Troxler accepted the assignment by God to become Pastor of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he continues to demonstrate his faithfulness to the Lord by carrying out his Pastoral responsibilities with great joy and a loving heart.

Pastor Troxler and Macedonia are proud members of the Chain Lake District Missionary Baptist Association, and the Wolverine Baptist State Congress of Christian Education, where he currently serves as Third Vice President, to the President, the Rev. Dr. Addis Moore, who also serves as President of the Chain Lake District.

In May of 1997, Pastor Troxler was united in marriage to the former Nicole Whitaker.  In August of 2003, Pastor Troxler graduated with honors from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

Pastor Troxler and Nicole are blessed with two beautiful children, Joshua Clayton and Jada Camille.
